What year was the Independence Center built and when did it first open? What contractor built the mall? Where could I find historical information about its early years of operation?

However construction on the Independence Center started around January 1973. Its grand opening was Sept. 25th 1974. H. Leayell Contruction Company, Dallas was the general contractor; Architectonics, Inc., Dallas was the designer.
